The Chair’s main mission is to develop and disseminate knowledge and expertise on various topics related to innovation and regional development. It conducts research on regional innovation in line with two objectives: (1) understand the nature and geography of contemporary models of innovation and industrial dynamics; (2) study the different forms of innovation and strategies of firms and organizations in different regions with a view to inspiring new policy approaches, while providing guidelines on how to better consider regional dynamics that contribute to national innovation capacities.

The Chair carries out research projects intended to contribute to the advancement of knowledge on innovation-related issues stemming from multiple and varied territorial realities.

The research conducted will focus on three complementary themes:

  • innovation as a knowledge-based process;
  • open and collaborative innovation;
  • transforming innovation into growth

The research conducted at the Chair will develop and disseminate knowledge and expertise on different aspects of innovation and regional development and will focus on various industrial sectors (manufacturing and service) and multiple regional contexts (metropolises, and outlying and rural regions).
